What are the capabilities of a Certified Bookkeeper?
- Help you get accurate financial statements and tax returns.
- Find and correct any accounting errors in your company’s books.
- Do your company’s payroll.
- Maximize depreciation for your financial statements and taxes.
- Record and cost out your merchandise inventory.
- Help you avoid costly losses from fraud and theft.
Why hire a bookkeeper instead of a CPA?
In most instances the focus of a bookkeeper and a CPA are entirely different. A CPA’s focus is to assist the business owner with tax planning and file tax returns based on the financial information provided by the business owner and bookkeeper. Many people believe that their CPA will do or is doing their bookkeeping. In most cases a CPA is delegating the bookkeeping to a bookkeeper and charging CPA rates. If your CPA is doing your bookkeeping, be sure to ask if he/she is actually doing it or is it being delegated or outsourced.
Why outsource your Bookkeeping?
- Focus on your core business. Outsourcing those things that you are not good at or just plain don’t like to do allows the business owner to focus on what they do best.
- Save on employment taxes. Outsourcing to a professional bookkeeper keeps you out of trouble with IRS while saving you money on payroll taxes and expenses like worker’s compensation insurance.
- Lets your employees focus on the job you hired them to do. If your receptionist is also your bookkeeper, and the phone comes first, guess what?
